Kolkata, March 25: Blogger’s from across the City of Joy, gathered for an event like none other on a Sunday morning, where the hosts of the day were the renowned Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) that commemorated 100 years in the industry (1917-2017).
Being in the news lately for all the negative publicity, the Council has been conducting events with food bloggers across the country to not only bust the myths doing the rounds in the media circuit; but also presented their side of the story in a completely informative and fun filled manner.

Bloggers assembled at Barbecue Nation Park Street on March 19th, 2017, where they were hosted by Ms Bhavna Shah, who represented MPOC and gave out a brief introduction and benefits of Palm Oil .
Did you know Palm Oil has the following salient features?
- It is Cholesterol-free.
- Has a balanced ratio of unsaturated and saturated fatty acids which makes the food tasty and nutritious.
- It is rich in antioxidants like Vitamin E ,terols, water soluble powerful antioxidants, phenolic acids and flavonoids.
- It helps promote the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E & K.
- Unlike the media myth of Palm Oil aggravating Cancer, studies reveal that Palm oil in fact has a future role in treating heart disease and cancer.
Following the informative introduction, Bloggers were divided into groups of 7 to participate in a plethora of fun filled activities.

There was a one of a kind treasure hunt, a blindfold taste test full Masterchef style, salad making competition, a pop quiz and a dart competition – all conducted at renowned Calcutta eating hot spots Oasis, Mocambo and Trincas.
The grand finale of the event was a celebration Selfie booth filled with funky props and signs for the hosts and participants.

That was followed by an intriguing session by Ms Bhavna on busting the negative myths on Palm oil which was aided by means of an informative power point presentation and video .
The event concluded with a scrumptious lunch at Barbecue Nation and some very satisfied faces.
It was “Oil” about fun after all 😉
