Brand Wars is the latest rage in the hospitality sector these days and Calcutta bears no exception to this norm; although with a rather late, but a much awaited entrant with TGI Fridays Kolkata.

Since it’s inception in October last year, I have been eager to hear or see a vigorous buzz amongst one and all but sadly all I heard were luke warm responses. Having a kick ass time at its Bangalore counterpart, I decided to experience the Calcutta concoction myself with a quaint afternoon lunch with a large group.

For those who are still oblivious,  TGIF is located on the 2nd floor of Forum Mall (Elgin Road);quite an odd location for a restaurant chain to be amidst shopping outlets and not the food court. However once inside, the interiors blow you away. The aesthetic lighting, painting on the walls, the cutlery- all give you that tasteful international touch full of love and rock n roll.

TGI Interior
Coming to food, not much of a choice for the vegetarians unfortunately as compared to their elaborate tenderloin, chicken, mutton and seafood selections. With the liquor license finally in place from January, don’t miss their signature cocktails, especially my all time favorite- Long Island Ice Tea 😉

Chickn Pasta
We tried the BIG Mexican Burger (Lamb) with the whole wheat bread. The Lamb patty was succulent and moist despite being grilled which is an A + with the aftereffects being not heavy on the tummy so a must try. There was also the Barbeque Chicken Salad that we adored- no compromise on the chicken pieces and the balance of the dressing, chicken and veggies was perfect.

Surf and Turf Burger
What fancied my taste buds however was the Surf and Turf Burger – Succulent lamb patty prepared rare, medium rare or well done with assorted veges and sweet crab cakes on top- absolute orgasm!

seven spiced herbed grilled salmon
A special mention goes out to their Chicken Pasta Arabiatta and their 7spiced herbed Grilled Salmon. Something that created a heavenly celebration in my mouth.

Smoked Pork Ribs
If you love ribs, be sure to definitely try the Smoked Pork Ribs. Of course it’s nothing short of foodgasm! And that my friend is what one thanks God for creating the feeling of hunger in the first place. Served with a whooping side of crispy onion rings; this one’s a carnival right there!

The hospitality of the staff is commendable and courteous, that makes it another visit here soon.
